Who Am I?
I am a PhD student in the joint program between EPFL in Switzerland and IST in Portugal. I started in academia as a mechanical engineer in Sharif University of Technology in Iran and moved to South Korea for my master’s in the same field specializing in acoustics, noise, and vibration.
While I was interested in the robotics as a mechanical engineer, I started to gain more interest in human-robot interaction and decided to redirect my doctoral studies to that field. My PhD started more in the field of human-robot interaction, however, I am trying to restructure it toward cognitive robotics and artificial intelligence.
As a roboticist, I am curious about robots, the psychology of human behaviors, and the process of learning. Subsequently, I want to know how understanding the psychology of human behavior can help developing robots that can perform adequately in interaction scenarios with humans. I am extending this curiosity to interactions within educational mediums, especially with children. Currently, I am trying to develop a cognitive framework for the robot in educational scenarios. My question is how can we develop the robot’s cognitive structure and simultaneously evaluate its influence on children’s learning?
